Canadamedshop.ca looks like dozens of other online pharmacies. For potential customers, the question is: is it safe? Is this online pharmacy legit or fake? We’ll answer these questions and more.

Canada Med Shop is a pharmacy and nothing else. They only fill prescription medications. This means that you can fill prescriptions for anti-smoking medications, high blood pressure meds, asthma inhalers, cholesterol-lowering drugs and some prescription “lifestyle” drugs. However, you’re not going to be able to order over the counter allergy medication along with your asthma inhaler. If you’re filling a prescription to manage your blood sugar, you can’t place an order for diabetes testing strips. If you’re filling a prescription for an ongoing health problem that limits your ability to leave your home, you can’t order vitamins and home medical equipment at the same time.
Canada Med Shop does not dispense narcotics, whether or not you have a prescription. Nor will they fill a prescription unless it is from a legitimate physician. This site doesn’t connect you with a doctor if you don’t have a prescription.
Their prices are average. You’re not going to save a lot by ordering them, but they aren’t ripping off customers, either. Their products are cheaper than your standard brand name prescription because they’re offering generic drugs, though those are perfectly safe. Depending on where you live, you may save money on drugs sold through this pharmacy over the local drug store because they don’t charge customers sales tax.
They don’t offer discounts or coupon codes. Then again, a site offering 2-for-1 deals on lifestyle medications is probably not safe, and Canadamedshop.ca doesn’t raise any red flags like this.
Their generic drugs meet Canadian pharmaceutical standards; those are as good as the United States’ FDA.
There is a roughly $10 shipping fee per order. Customers’ orders may be subject to additional shipping fees if the order weighs more than a pound. Standard shipping takes two to four weeks. They only ship to the United States, much to the chagrin of many Canadians.
For international customers, they may work with local dispensaries to send the drugs to the customer. For example, they may relay the prescription for a British customer to a UK pharmacy to be filled. If you are in this situation, just use a pharmacy in your country. Complaints tend to arise when a third party screws up an order or compounds the delays in getting your drugs.
A minor complaint in customer reviews is the relatively limited customer service. They generally work only 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday Pacific Standard Time, though there’s an order taking service running business hours on weekends. However, customers can place orders 24×7 via an online form, fax or mail. This is one of the few online pharmacies we’ve seen where you can mail your order to them.
They will not bill your medical insurance for your medications but provide an invoice you can use for reimbursement from your insurer.
LegitScript, a vetting organization for online pharmacies, lists canadamedshop.ca as an “unapproved” online pharmacy. They aren’t saying that canadamedshop.ca is not a real pharmacy, only that the site doesn’t meet their very high standards. They may be penalizing the site for selling too many nootropics or lifestyle drugs over conventional prescriptions and over the counter medications.
We checked the canadamedshop.ca at CIPA, the Canadian International Pharmacy Association. CIPA membership requires pharmacies to be licensed; they have to require a prescription for prescription medications. This shows that Canadamedshop.ca is a legit pharmacy.
They don’t have a satisfaction guarantee or return policy. In general, you can’t return an open prescription pack for legal reasons. However, with this online pharmacy, you can’t return a drug opened or unopened if dissatisfied. The only clear case they’d offer a refund is if you ordered something they turn out not to have in stock.
You can only pay via credit card.
CIPA is not simply a clearinghouse for verifying a website is the online storefront for a real pharmacy. Another requirement for membership in CIPA is related to security. For example, the member’s website must meet basic IT security standards to protect the customer’s financial information when they pay for products. The Norton antivirus protection on this site is far better than average.
The pharmacy has to meet industry certifications for protecting customers’ personal and medical information, as well. Canadamedshop.ca meets or exceeds the CIPA standards.
There are relatively few customer reviews of Canadamedshop.ca. This isn’t because it is a brand new site – they’ve been up since 2014. There are minor complaints the website isn’t mobile-friendly and that they don’t really have coupons. The more common negative reviews are related to the fact that they won’t replace lost or stolen items or refund money unless an item isn’t in stock. A few complaints are due to the company accepting and then refunding orders because they were out of a lifestyle drug.
We give canadamedshop.ca 3 stars out of 5. They keep things simple and legal by keeping their inventory and customer support to a minimum.
